San Diego Division Summer Meet

Meet starts at 11:30 am (after swapmeet) with a FREE cookout.

Come join your friends in a day of model trains! Swapmeet, cookout, clinic, Show & Tell, model judging, door prizes
and good company!

Lunch will be a summer cookout starting at 11:30 - hamburgers, hot dogs and all the fixings. Drinks and condiments
provided. Cost - FREE! If you would like to bring something to share, deserts are preferred.

• Clinic - hands on: Weathering with dry mediums (Pan Pastels, colored pencils, etc.)
(Note: Weathering is the simulation of exposure to the environment and the reality of dirt, dust, rust, and soot on our model trains; there’s no such thing as a clean train). Presented by Pete (nationally famous weathering expert) Steinmetz
Materials supplied: Pan Pastels, spray flat finish, colored pencils and assorted materials
Bring: Any car that you wish to weather; better yet bring a bunch of cars to practice on first and then weather your favorite car.  The process is quick and easy once you get a feel for it and you can do many cars in a short period of time (and with dry materials, you can erase your mistakes).  Learn how to fade paint and distress painted surfaces with simple techniques. Also learn where to get the materials to start your own weathering program.

Show and Tell - if you have a model or other model railroading item you would like to show to the members, please
bring it. We’ll give you a chance to describe it, and show your skills!

And finally, a brief meeting to update everyone, some good socializing, and door prizes!
